Ukrainian gamedev businessman Maxim Slobodyanyuk and Belarusian IT-entrepreneur Yuri Gurski are launching a new project Varaig. These two outstanding experts on local markets decided to combine their unique experience in project management and certain success factors of recent startup triumphs (MSQRD, Prisma, Looksery, etc.) in an attempt to encourage even more startup vibe in CEE. The idea is to gather a pool of top developers, geeks, and hackers from CIS countries and provide them with opportunities to work on building revolutionary tech. What goes next within Varaig project is selling tech solutions of high quality and potential to American billionaire companies. The official contest launch date is planned on 1st of August.
Maxim Slobodyanyuk is famous in the region as a founder of such companies as iLogos and Nika Entertainment. Unfortunately, Nika ended up making 90% of its staff redundant, despite all the ambitious plans: one of Nika’s business areas turned out to be unprofitable. Meanwhile, iLogos is still on top, but Slobodyanyuk takes no part in operational management and only represents the company as its founder and CEO.
Yuri Gursky is a vice president in Mail.ru Group sales department and has recently appeared in media as a mentor of Belarusian projects MSQRD and Prisma. As you probably know, MSQRD was eventually well acquired by Facebook. Also, you must have already tried those popular photo filters of Prisma mobile app. Both startup teams feel grateful to Gursky for the precious mentor support and assistance in business development. Obviously, similar selling models will be later applied within Varaig.
Varaig CIS will be launched on 1st of August as a contest for teams of developers that already have a portfolio of solutions in such high-tech fields as:
• facial, object and voice tracking and recognition
• artificial Intelligence
• mobile augmented reality
• smart video streaming / chat / social / dating technologies
• gamification (new gaming platforms / concepts of next generation games).
Three top projects will receive the prizes of $10 000, $3 000 and $2 000.
In addition, Varaig welcomes individual developers, hackers, scientists and IT-Olympiads’ champions. They are promised a reasonable pay with extra bonuses and cooperative work on new projects. Those owning ready technologies are offered investments, office spaces and mentorship. The ultimate goal is to create revolutionary products that global business giants like Facebook and Google will definitely want to buy.
Do not forget to apply for Varaig Tech Contest by 1st of August.
