On 19th of March VCEE Startups laid the foundation for the development of CEE startup ecosystem within the project International Investor Day. For a number of reasons, Vilnius was chosen to be the venue: one of the fastest developing CEE hubs, a big pool of startups and growing funds, home for numerous tech developers and simply a nice city to spend a day or two.
On Saturday International Investor Day Vilnius gathered more than 300 attendees in RadissonBluHotelLietuvaCongressCenter. The event brought a truly international audience to the city, where the local community got the great opportunity of productive networking: IIDV united people from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, CzechRepublic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Switzerland, the USA. Over 20 famous speakers, over 15 VC funds, investment and banking consulting companies, a big number of startups from 6 CEE countries came to Vilnius in order to attend International Investor Day.
Participants of International Investor Day Vilnius enjoyed the high-quality content presented at the conference: speakers’ presentations and exciting panel discussions kept the audience attention during the whole day. There were real stars of international business and startup community on the stage: David Goldsmith (an American writer and serial entrepreneur, “Paid to Think”), Max Gurvits (CBA Group), Oscar Kneppers (Rockstart), Denis Dovgopoly (GrowthUp Group), Ori Lahav (Outbrain) and many others.
IIDV Startup Pitching Competition was one of the most exciting parts of the event. Out of 130 plus startup applications we selected 24 startups to pitch on the Main Stage. On 18th of March there was IIDV Bootcamp organized for the selected teams, where Gleb Maltsev, Donatas Jonikas and Justin Taruska had a closer look at startup teams and gave them a couple of tips for the next day pitching.
Belarusian startup NeoSound became the first winner of International Investor Day Startup Pitching Competition. NeoSound team members Denis Ardabatsky and Nadzeya Karaban were awarded 2000 euros in cash and inspired for further project advancement. NeoSound is an application built on the unique voice recognition technology, whose algorithm even exceeds a similar Casio technology.
The second IIDV prize was proudly taken by a Lithuanian project Rubbee. Startup CEO Gediminas Nemanis presented a unique device for bicycles, which allows to turn any bike into an e-bike thanks to its universal construction and simple installation. Startup Rubbee was awarded with a special prize provided by the Swiss partner of VCEE Startups company Innovare – a package of consulting services worth 4500 euros.
Finally, the third prize – a free marketing session from Donatas Jonikas – was given to a startup CarContact from Lithuania. CarContact is an online platform and a mobile application, which allows car drivers get in touch via phones or messengers just knowing a vehicle registration plate number.
The investment sector of IIDV community was presented by such key organizations as Maxfield Capital, CBA Group, Practica Capital, Zubr Capital, RIS Ventures, Kaspersky Lab, Innmind, GrowthUp Group, 21st Century, AlmazCapital and numerous business angels. Deloitte was the main partner and sponsor of International Investor Day Vilnius.
Worth noticing that International Investor Day Vilnius was also interesting for local startup organizations such as IHUB Vilnius, KTU Startup Space, Talent Garden Kaunas, and similar hubs from other CEE Startup Hub Poland, IHUB Kiev and many others.
Obviously, International Investor Day Vilnius stole the show! After Vilnius VCEE Startups plans to organize similar conferences in other European cities – Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade. The main goal of IID project is associated with building international cooperation among separate startup ecosystems and attracting foreign capital to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
