10 Years a Nomad by Matt Kepnes

Posted: eight/12/2019 | August 12th, 2019

As you know, just after eighteen months of writing and editing, my new book, Ten Years a Nomad: A Traveler’s Journey Household, came out final month.

As opposed to my preceding books, this is not a “how to guide” but a collection of guidelines, guidance, and stories from the road. It a memoir of my ten years backpacking the globe and the lessons I discovered along the way.

This book gets to the heart of wanderlust and what extended travel about the globe can teach us about life, ourselves, and our spot in the globe. (Or at least tries to.)

It is meant to show individuals that if I, a sheltered nerdy kid from a little town, could muster the courage to do this and survive, you can also!

Cheryl Strayed named it inspiring. The Los Angeles Occasions stated, “This book is not just for travelers it is for anybody who has wanted much more and has taken off to locate it.” Tony Wheeler, the founder of Lonely Planet, loved it. So did Rolf Potts.

And, much more importantly, thousands of readers who hold sending me messages that they couldn’t place it down and it renewed their wanderlust. (For a writer, that is the finest issue we can hear.)

More than the final month, I’ve accomplished a lot of interviews, videos, podcasts, and guest posts speaking not only about my book but how you can travel much more typically – and be a far better traveler when you do.

So I wanted to share some of what I’ve been up to so you can understand much more about the book and get some travel guidelines at the similar time:

Book Your Trip: Logistical Suggestions and Tricks

Book Your Flight
Discover a low-cost flight by applying Skyscanner or Momondo. They are my two preferred search engines since they search web-sites and airlines about the globe so you usually know no stone is left unturned.

Book Your Accommodation
You can book your hostel with Hostelworld as they have the biggest inventory. If you want to remain someplace other than a hostel, use Booking.com as they regularly return the least expensive prices for guesthouses and low-cost hotels. I use them all the time.

Do not Neglect Travel Insurance coverage
Travel insurance coverage will shield you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. It is complete protection in case something goes incorrect. I by no means go on a trip without the need of it as I’ve had to use it a lot of occasions in the previous. I’ve been applying Planet Nomads for ten years. My preferred providers that present the finest service and worth are:

  • Planet Nomads (for everybody under 70)
  • Insure My Trip (for these more than 70)
